Qube Records at Royal Albert Hall

Alumni, Qube legend and 2024 Artist of the Year Clyde Love, along with his amazing band of fellow alumni Perran Jacka and current students Atti and Kai, took to the stage at the Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday night as one of the featured artists at the Music For Youth Proms. Clyde and the band had wowed judges earlier in the year at both the regional and national events, and were invited to play two of Clyde’s original songs at the Proms along with a select group orchestras, choirs and ensembles from around the UK. The band played Girl With The Polaroid Camera and Not My Problem, two songs that were massive favourites on the Qube Records European Tour in July, to an unbelievable reception from the 4,000 strong audience. An audience which contained 45 Mounts Bay students and staff who made the trip up specially to support the lads, and their presence was felt in the room as they made as much noise as they possibly could! It meant the absolute world to have that many friends in the crowd. The entire band played out of their skins, and accompanied on the big screens by Clyde’s home made films of West Cornwall it was the single most magical moment in the 11 year history of Qube Records. There were memorable bits throughout the entire day and evening,  such as discovering we had the backstage room most recently used by Elton John, or presenting Clyde with the Jennings Music Trophy during the soundcheck in the hall! We always think the last thing we’ve done will be hard to top, but this one just might be the peak. A massive congratulations to Clyde, Perran, Atti and Kai for being absolutely elite, and for discovering that their level is actually world class. It was the best thing we’ve ever pulled off! Loads more photos and videos on the quberecords Instagram so have a look there, and don’t forget to listen to Clyde’s album Garden In The Woods Part 1 which is available everywhere!
