Transport

The Academy is situated in the village of Heamoor to the northwest of Penzance.

There are a variety of transport arrangements used by students to get to Mounts Bay Academy, either by their own arrangements or organised transport.

You are advised to plan ahead. Check where the bus stops are and the pickup and drop off times? Walk, ride or drive the route in advance to check how long the journey takes?

Walking and cycling

This will reduce pressure on public transport and road networks.

Cyclists are advised wear a helmet and high-vis vest

Academy Run Shuttle Service

The Offer

Mounts Bay Academy offers a charged shuttle service for eligible students who attend the Academy. The offer is only open to students where:

The Route

Bus routes are determined at the beginning of each academic year based on demand. The rural nature of West Cornwall makes it impractical to run our buses directly to every village, but we endeavour to meet the majority of requests based on the volume of students and geographical demand. The buses run along main roads and stop at designated clear and safe pick-up points. The buses run on a tight time schedule and are not able to divert from their planned routes.

The Price

The cost of the service is based on £4 per day and will be charged for each half term period to ease the payment over the year. You are requested to pay in advance at or before the beginning of each half term. Payment reserves a seat for your child on your chosen route only and is non-refundable for any unused or missed trips. Non, or late payments may result in your child being removed from the service.

Booking

Applications for September are available from Friday 5th July and places will be confirmed before the end of the summer term. Places are allocated on a ‘first come first serve’ basis. In the event of over subscription, additional requests will be held on a waiting list and a place will be offered at the earliest opportunity.
