Yr 7 Football

Mounts Bay year 7s went into their first match knowing that victory would guarantee a place in the second round of the county cup.

After a tight start Jacob Trudgeon put the hosts ahead after his original effort had been saved bravely by the goalkeeper.

The game sparked brilliantly into life, with Max Armstrong firing in some crosses and Piran Tanner coming agonisingly close to scoring. Sam lewis also came close to scoring just before half time after a crafty dribble.

Early in the second half, both sides improved but it was Mounts Bay who scored the next goal. Jacob Trudgeon made a crazy run down the left and crossed for Dan Evans, who placed the ball into the bottom corner.

The visitors pulled a goal back after keeper Shea Cornish was caught slightly out of position.

But over the course of the whole match Shea made a string of fine, confident saves and , helped by a back line including Conner George and Luke Flack , put in a stunning defensive display.

Jacob Trudgeon then tucked away a third goal to march Mounts Bay into the second round.
