On Sunday 11th December the Young Enterprise team set off to Truro to take part in the Christmas Trade Fair. The students competed against 15 other schools and colleges who were all there to promote their products and conduct market research. The Mounts Bay team are still in the process of creating their product so went with the plan to sell Christmas items in order to earn capital and also to speak with possible clientele as part of their own market research.
The students sold driftwood Christmas trees and reindeer food which were a huge success. Credit to Andre Green who started his shift on the Trade Stand and within 15 minutes had sold eight bags of reindeer food. A future salesman in the making! Lily and Alisha took the first shift on the stand where they were questioned by a number of judges and were complemented on their professional responses. Other members of the team did well speaking to other judges and business advisors from other schools and colleges.
As trading drew to an end there were presentations for different awards. A few schools took most prizes but Mounts Bay took a Special Young Enterprise Board Award for their Christmas Trade stand. A massive achievement which has spurred the team on the keep designing and planning their product.
Their product, once finalised and manufactured, will be available to buy online and through their social media sites.
A huge well done to all of those that came and took part on Sunday, it was a cold yet brilliant day.
