The Young Americans arrived at Mounts Bay today with all the energy, enthusiasm and flair we’re come to expect from them. Around 200 students from a variety of local primary and secondary schools arrived at lunchtime for the launch of the three day extravaganza.
The Young Americans are focused on providing music education and performance opportunities to young people around the world. The International Music Outreach Tours promote the importance of music education by bringing music workshops to primary and secondary age students.
This year is their 50th Anniversary Tour, visiting 15 counties worldwide and they will be passing on their unique range of talents to over 4,000 students over the next 3 months.
Students will become part of the cast in an extravagant performance at the Penzance Leisure Centre on Wednesday 25th February and in just 2 and a half days will have gained all of the skills necessary to perform as both individuals and as part of an ensemble.
Mrs Sara Davey, Academy Principal said “This is an amazing opportunity for the young people of Penwith to be involved with a group of internationally renowned performers and we are proud that we were once again accepted to host their tour. Cornwall is a very long way for the Young Americans to travel whilst in the UK and it is a testament to the standard of performance and the warmth of the welcome they have received that keeps them coming back to us for more”.
