Y8 IMYC – Reflection

Year 8 – ‘Reflection’ – Complex decision making requires space and time.
Year 8 students were introduced to their new big idea through a forensic science workshop where they had to collect forensic evidence from a robbery and use it to decide who committed the crime.
They learnt about fingerprints, DNA, shoe prints and other evidence used to eliminate suspects and prove beyond reasonable doubt who the perpetrator was.  Students had to work as a group, setting up their crime scene to avoid contamination, and collecting as much of the available evidence as possible.  It was a fun and interesting way to explore the ‘big idea’ in a context which is so important.
