International Women in Engineering Day at Truro High School for Girls

Fifteen of our Year 8 students had an exciting day putting their problem solving STEM skills to the challenge when they joined forces with 150 other girls from other Cornish schools at Truro High School to collaborate on various projects.  Students were tasked with designing, building and testing model boats, welding with chocolate, building and designing ramps, and an aeronautical flight challenge.  A whole host of employers supported this event including: Armed Forces, Babcock, Watson Marlow, Kier Construction, Cornwall Software, Camborne School of Mines and Serco  to name a few. Hopefully we have inspired a new generation of girls to explore engineering and increase take up in this growth industry.
