Over 100 young people representing schools and colleges from around the county will be involved, performing a number of different musical styles including rock, folk, funk, jazz, some live DJ sets and organising the event.
The event is the brainchild of Luke New and his Arts Award team who were set the task of organising an event to showcase some of the many music clubs that exist as part of The MixX community outreach programme. So many musicians came forward that the only solution was to have an event that took place over more than one day, Luke New said “I was not surprised by the talent that exists in the area and the team quickly realised that a 24hr gig would be a great way to show off those performers and act as a platform for fundraising.”
All musicians are raising funds for their schools individually through sponsorship and all funds raised from the live event will be used to increase support for Mounts Bay Academy’s ‘access to all’ policy within the Arts MixX extra curricular clubs. This helps to pay for young musicians to go on trips to see professional performances around the country, bring professionals in to the Academy and help purchase essential equipment for their continued development. Sponsors can ring our dedicated sponsorship line to pledge a donation or e-mail the sponsorship team via their e-mail address:

The musicathon starts at 3pm on Thursday 25th October in the style of the ever popular Jools Holland Hogmanay countdown to the new year, and is hosted by Mounts bay students Darcy Blewett, Sancha Chappell, Mia Herbert and Ethan Ford. The event promises to be an exiting mix of music and entertainment.
The event has produced an exciting collaboration between Mounts Bay Academy and Penwith Radio. The Community Radio Station will link live to feature some performances from the main concert on Thursday evening during their scheduled evening shows. As the public leave and the hardcore performers and broadcasters settle in for the night, the Academy’s own radio station MBA Live will take over the Penwith Radio airwaves, and broadcast DJ sets, performances from the acoustic stage and sessions recorded at the Academy. Listeners can “tune in” to Penwith Radio using their website http://penwithradio.co.uk
The main public event runs from 7pm – midnight on Thursday 25th October at the Academy. It will feature performances from our Mounts Bay musicians and bands, Relentless – a 4 piece young rock band from Falmouth who are BRILLIANT, local college band Blue Horyzon, top local folk musicians The Williams Brothers feat. Elaine Claxton, young bands from Helston and St Just…
…and many more.
We are limited to 300 audience, SO IF YOU WANT TO COME GET YOUR TICKETS EARLY.
There will NOT be entry on the night without a ticket.
