Caner Bindiren has really upped his tennis game over the Summer season. Firstly he won the Cornwall Road to Wimbledon event were he had to play many matches against all the clubs and schools in the County to win his place at the HSBC finals in Wimbledon in August. Whilst at Wimbledon the players were treated like tennis professionals. They were based in the Aorangi Pavillion using all the facilities that the famous tennis players use. Caner had never played on grass before. He had one short practice session on the grass court before heading into a gruelling week of tennis. He was up against high calibre players from all over the country. Caner made it to the semi- finals in both singles and doubles . The whole experience was exciting but extremely exhausting. Since returning from Wimbledon, Caner who trains with TDA Tennis in Bodmin & Plymouth, has been working closely with his coach and has been working hard on his techniques and fitness levels. This paid off as, over October half term, he won the U14 Boys Grade 3 tournament at Ivybridge. Caner was the under dog in the final but through pure perseverance won 2-6 7-6 10-8 . He also reached the semi finals of the U16 category. It has been an amazing season for Caner and we wish him luck for upcoming competitions.
