Last weekend I went up to Dartmoor with the Cornwall Army Cadet Force to participate in the Ten Tors Challenge. The challenge consists of teams of six having to navigate over Dartmoor following a 35, 45 or 55 mile route, carrying all our food, equipment and tents. At 7 o’clock on Saturday morning we left from Okehamptom and by the first day we had done over half the route after walking for 25 miles with each of us carrying 18 kilograms of equipment.
Finally, after miles of hills, bogs and dodgy looking sheep we plodded back into camp at 2:30pm where we were greeted by applauding crowds, our medals and best of all, a pasty! I highly recommend Ten Tors for those who enjoy walking or for people who want to push themselves further and see what they can actually achieve.
