This month has been a big one for surfing twins Huck and Woody New. Over the last year both brothers have been on the Surfing England under 16s squad, training with the team and working towards selection for the World Junior Surf Championships.
They have competed in all the UK based competitions, travelled to Europe to compete in the World Surf League Junior Pro events, and been on training camps with some of Europes top surf coaches.
Huck finished his season last week with a brilliant third place finish at the UKPro Surf Tour even in Thurso, Scotland. The waves were great, and he manage to explore a lot of the local reefs and river mouth breaks which he really enjoyed even though it was cold!
Woody is currently in California with the English team competing in the ISA World Junior Surfing Championships. He had a great start winning his first heat against some of the best young surfers from around the World. Unfortunately in round two he came up against two young surfers from Hawaii and Tahiti touted for future stardom as world champions. He surfed really well and came third, moving him into the repercharge rounds. He won his round 3 heat on Wednesday night with some great surfing, and continues to compete through this week.
Both young surfers are stoked with their achievements over the last 12 months, and are looking forward to the end of the season so they can relax, free surf, develop their aerial surfing and study for their GCSEs!
