On Tuesday, 12th March, Isabel Dalgleish, Xanthe Miller, Lucy Edwards and Eleanor Peters from Year 9 attended the IFS Student Investor Challenge Regional Finals. They had been working on investments and stocks and shares from November until February to make the largest return they could on £100,000. They managed to come in the top 20 in the region and secured their place at the finals.
At the regional finals they had to answer 70 multiple choice questions based on financial matters from the benefits of ISA’s to the differences between the FSA, FRS and the FATF. The girls were one of two Year 9 groups competing against Year 12 and Year 13 groups who had competed before at this stage. With that said, they still managed to come in 7th in the region from nearly 700 teams that entered. Whilst that did not get them a place in the National Finals, the girls showed that they were no pushovers against the older groups. With a better understanding of the competition, the girls are more determined to get a place at the regionals next year and win!
