Primary Cluster Basketball at MBA

Seven teams turned up to a successful basketball cluster at Mounts Bay Academy. With qualification up for grabs to the Penwith Basketball tournament and for the future School Games there was excitement in the air. The session began with our sports leaders taking charge of five skilled activities to prepare the primary pupils and to extend their understanding of the game including shooting, passing and dribbling.

The schools were very inspired with the time our sports leaders spent with them before the tournament began. The round robin tournament consisted of five minute games with five schools attending, Alverton, St Madderns, Newlyn, and two teams from both Bolitho and Mousehole. The other local primary schools attended the same format at Hump

hry Davy School. The tournament progressed and the level of competition definitely increased with some hugely successful high point scoring games. Our sports leaders refereed and scored the competition with great enthusiasm and professionalism. The overall result ended with Bolitho in first place and Alverton in second place both qualifying for the Penwith tournament on the 20th March at Mounts Bay Academy. There was a great response from both primary pupils and primary teachers for the excellent work that the sports leaders put in on the day, and an outstanding example to the school. A big thank you and well done to Ryan Hosken, Ben Gilo, Lewis Wells, Tom Fell and Adam Prowse.
