Porridge Plan

A record-breaking £161.77 was raised on Monday at a cake stall in aid of the Mariama-mae pre-school in the Gambia.  A group of Year 9 girls have been fund-raising for the school since last year in order to provide the African students with a breakfast each morning. The money raised will be enough to feed the children for two months.  Cakes were brought in by MBA students and staff as well as volunteers from the charity and Ali Calvert, who founded the school, judged the winners of the Academy House Bake-off.  First prize went to Neeve Raymond of 11 Bazin with an outrageously immaculate  rainbow cake and runners-up were Mr Harvey with his purple blackberry and apple sponge and Miss Hick with her red strawberry gateau.

The Academy had also raised £75 for the charity by buying christmas cards and advent calendars.  Ms Calvert will be holding a bric a brac stall for the charity at the Christmas Fair on 12th December.  If you have any items you wish to donate, please give them to Miss Hick who will pass them on.
Many thanks to everyone who contributed by baking or buying cakes and to those of you who bought Christmas articles.
