Report by Mr Cross
Shortly before Christmas a select group of 30 year 10 and year 11 GCSE photography students were the guests of the photography department at University College Falmouth. The MBA students met and spoke to current and previous graduates before embarking on a series of workshops: drawing light trails and making multiple exposure images using long shutter speeds and torches in a darkened studio, making photograms in the darkroom and exploring the qualities of light from studio flash in a high spec. studio.
The day was highly productive with students consolidating their classroom learning and producing plenty of interesting work for their GCSE ‘portfolios’. UCF staff were very complimentary of the knowledge, creativity and behaviour of the Mounts Bay contingent and a good day was had by all.
Thank you to parents and staff for supporting and accommodating the trip, especially at such short notice.
