Penwith Schools Rowing Championships

A number of impressive performances were recorded at the Penwith Schools Indoor Rowing Competition held recently at Cape Cornwall School. The event saw individuals from the local secondary schools competing over times ranging between 2 and 6 minutes- depending upon their age categories.

The overall team prize was awarded to Bolitho School, having accumulated the most points throughout the individual races, as well as an Olympics-inspired 2012m relay challenge. With Mounts Bay Academy/Cape Cornwall Coming second. Well done to all who took part.

The event ,which was organised by Phil Pring from British Rowing, is the first of several indoor rowing challenges being held throughout the county in the coming months. As Phil explains, “The individual nature of indoor rowing allows pupils from smaller schools to achieve well in competitions. With that in mind, we’re looking forward to the County Championships, on Jan 27th, and the Regional Championships on March 6th.” For further details of these competitions, as well as the recently introduced Cornish Indoor Rowing League, log on to or contact
