On Friday 5th February Penlee Museum was taken over for a day and evening of 40s themed music, dance and art by a team of MBA Silver Arts Awards students.
During the day, a group of keen, talented Year 7 and 8 artists, musicians and dancers were taken down to the museum where they were able to use the inspirational artwork of Ithell Colquhoun to create their own work working with our Year 9 leaders, Steffi Fashokun, Jenny Dash, Ritchie Payne, Dylan Halls and Konnah Sanson.
During the evening, there was a fantastic atmosphere with many of the performers and organisers in 1940s fashion which made the theme of the event stand out.
The music was provided with performances from the jazz band, and a range of talented students from all year groups at Mounts Bay. Most of our musicians performed original music from last years album, Ferris Wheel, or pieces they have written to be released this year on our own record label.
The dancers performed in the upstairs gallery through the evening, and all the artwork created during the day was exhibited in the main gallery next to the professional works that were used for inspiration.
It was a great event and we are already looking forward to taking part again next year.
