During the 24 hour gig at Mounts Bay Academy the Mounts Bay Live radio crew took over Penwith FM radio waves for the night. The team broadcast an amazing eight hours of live radio. It was split into eight one hour programmes and a total of 16 students talked on air, while the same amount operated the equipment.
The broadcasting started off in earnest at midnight, when Jess Henshall treated us to her one hour Delving into Dystopia special, a show she produced as part of her Gold Arts Award.
Following this broadcasting teams took over one hour at a time treating listeners to news, chat, opinion, lots of music and Emma Moss’s beautifully made jingles. Interesting topics included the future of space travel, comfort food, future dreams and, of course, sleep! The nights broadcasting ended with a marvellously upbeat breakfast Show presented by Jess, Eleanor and Horace.
Miss Fisher said, “I was incredibly proud of all of the students who took part in this broadcast. It is a lot more difficult than it sounds to present a radio show, and the students not only managed to fill the many hours on air but made it interesting, fun and very professional sounding too. I am sure there are some future radio professionals within their ranks.”
