Karate Success

Karate European Championships.  Barcelona 1st – 8th October 2012.

Three current pupils and one ex Mounts Bay pupil have been chosen to represent the UK in the forthcoming European Championships in Barcelona.

These are Caitlin Barton – Sargeant, Ellie Summers, Kegan Johnson and Robert Blackabey.

The students have already gone through two selection sessions, which involved them showing their skills in kumite (sparring) and kata (set routines).

Regular UK squad training sessions will be held over the next eight months to prepare them for the Europeans and possibly the World Championships next year in Singapore.

It is not just the students who have been successful, Mr Peter Blackabey has also been chosen for the Europeans in Barcelona.  All students attend the Samurai Cornwall Club which follows the Shukokai style and where many current members of the school in all years attend.
