Last Wednesday the KYBA group went to the Keay Theatre in St Austall to the Kernow Youth Book Awards. Our group gave a brilliant presentation on their chosen book ‘My name is Mina’ by David Almond.  David gave a talk by video which was great for us to be given a greater insight into his story. Simon Mayo also have a video talk on the background of his book, which was interesting as the group found this the most boring book. So to be given his view was good. Lissa Evans spoke about her ‘Small change for Stuart’ and also do a question and answering session. Finally Chris Higgens gave a lovely talk as she was last years KYBA winner. The winners are selected by students only! She explained how her career had moved on tremendously with this award. She has written another five books and she read an extract from one of those ‘A day I met Suzie’, this is a story that is set in 6th form……..the audience was silent. All our group can’t wait for it to be available.
The winner of the KYBA 2013 was ‘A monster calls’ by Patrick Ness.
A huge thank you to all involved in KYBA 2013 and especially group who were a credit to MBA. Well done!
