Helsingor Day 5

It was our last day today here in Helsingor and what a finale we have had.

The day started bright and early with a visit to the Culture Yard, Helsingor’s library, which is built on the site of the old docks. We had a fascinating tour of the building and got a chance to experience some amazing views from the roof.

Next we visited the Danish Maritime Museum which is built in what was once a massive dry dock and extends an amazing 40 meters underground.

Then we crossed the moat into Kroneborg Castle, immortalised by Shakespeare’s Hamlet,  where we had a tour of the “caverns” or basement and met up with the statue of Holger Danske, a famous figure in Danish Legend.

A quick lunch and then we returned to the school and worked on an architectural project to design student spaces in our “school of the future”. The activity produced some amazing models and the students had some brilliant ideas.

Finally we said goodbye to our new friends at a farewell dinner and disco before making our way wearily to bed ready to depart Helsingor at 03:30 in the morning!
