Tyler Tonkin, Year 10, has been playing for Plymouth Argyle in the biggest youth football tournament in Europe which was held in Northern Ireland during the summer. The Milk Cup attracts teams from all over the world as well as youth squads from the major teams in the UK. Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs and David Beckham are only a few of a large list of superstar players to have participated in the Milk Cup as youth players.
Tyler, who plays in centre midfield, scored goals in two of Argyle’s victories against Japan and Northern Ireland. Tyler, who is hoping to become an apprentice at Plymouth Argyle when he leaves Mounts Bay, said, “I was quite scared but excited as well to take on the challenge.” Plymouth finished in an impressive 7th place.
Tyler trains three or four times a week at Plymouth, as well as playing matches on Sundays.
