There will be a short meeting on Tuesday 15th December at first break (10.15am) in the Drama Studio for anyone interested in this project.
I am looking for six or more students( 12 years of age or above) to be committed to a project as part of the centenary celebrations of the First World War. This exciting Levant Mine WW1 Project is being run by Collective Arts Ltd and will involve students from Mounts Bay Academy, Cape Cornwall School as well as members of the local community.
There will be a number of rehearsals in and out of school and you need to be available for the performances between Friday 1st of July, this being the first day of the Battle of the Somme and the 100th anniversary of this battle. The performance will finish on the 10th July 2016 with a day off on the 4th. There will also be two technical and dress rehearsals on the 29th and 30th June 2016. We are sharing this project with Cape Cornwall School, so you may not be in all the performances.
The event is a fantastic opportunity for students to gain a huge amount of confidence from performing, learn new practical and communication skills from professional actors, get fully immersed in life on the Western Front and the life of Cornish miners during the war, and be fully responsible for the safety and direction of participants throughout the event. They will also be required to learn German, First World War poetry and song, and be part of the researching and devising process (where they will be given the opportunity to choose a real life identity from a local soldier who fought in the war and find out as much information about them for their character).
I look forward to working with you.
