Report By Mr Cross
Last week a select group of artists and photographers attended the private view of their group show at Falmouth University.
The annual CreatEd exhibition showcases and celebrates outstanding coursework by GCSE and A level students studying creative subjects in schools and colleges from around the county and includes a prize competition judged by both an academic from the university and an industry judge.
For the second year running a Y9 GCSE Photography student from Mounts Bay Academy triumphed overall in the GCSE Photography category! Max Rowe’s dark room print with black painted lightbulb inspired by Renee Magritte and the surrealist movement was highly praised for it’s inventiveness, technical skill and challenge to the boundaries of Photography. Josh Stephens (GCSE), Charley Clifford (AS level) and Jessica Davy (GCSE), all Y11, were also highly commended. A huge well done to all who exhibited and a massive thank you to Mr Glenville for putting up and collecting the work!
The following day we took another 50 students from Years 8 and 9 and they were impressed by the quality and professionalism of the exhibition and collected plenty of inspiration to start them in their creative GCSE’s next year.
