On the weekend of 2nd June I played County Cup Tennis at Newquay. It was the first time County Cup has been played in Cornwall for 15 years. I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend even though it was rainy and drizzly for the Saturday and Sunday, though Monday was quite nice. My weekend was full of a lot of waiting around because I played for the U14s rather than the U12s and we had more players than slots. My weekend was all about experience because the team I played with will be the team I will play with in a few years time for the U18s. I have played for five years for the County now, even though I should have only really been eligible to play for four years because I played up an age group for the first year.
On the Saturday I played a friendly against an Avon player and I lost by only a few games; I probably could have played better because I was struggling with my serve a little bit but over all was quite happy with my performance. By the next day I had managed to get myself sorted and I was so up for a match but I still couldn’t play a proper match. I played another friendly but this time against a Devon player. We decided only to play one, long set because of the weather and because the doubles was going to be played soon and we needed to support our teams. I won the set 6-0 which is a great score especially at county level. On the Monday I was SO ready for a proper match and I finally got one. My partner and I played a doubles match against the Channel Islands 1 and 2. We played well and tried our best but we were unfortunately beaten. The whole team played so well and the way we all supported each other was just amazing. I made some great friends over the five years I have played County Cup Tennis and I have found myself a new doubles partner this year. It was a very busy weekend. I had to train every day and hit with my team mates to get them ready for their matches as well.
