It was a truly magical evening last night at Madron Church where the annual Mounts Bay Carol Service was held. The venue rang with festive music and readings wonderfully performed by MBA students. The service was conducted by the Reverend Tim Hawkins, who warmly welcomed the congregation to the church.
There were beautiful musical performances from the Academy Year 7 choir, HPI choir, string ensemble and woodwind ensemble. All students performed beautifully in the picturesque setting, which complemented their repertoire perfectly.
The readings were delivered engagingly by the student readers, who all performed with great confidence and poise. ‘The Birth of Jesus’ was read by Emily Rees, Archie Davey, Iris Rainbow and Luke Stoten from Year 11. Bella Freeman, Morvah Woodhead and Ivy Kirk from Year 7 read ‘If’. ‘A Ballad of Christmas’ was read by Matilda Sejahtera, Alice Micciche, Isla Harvey and Rose Hammond from Year 9. Emily Payne, Robert Stephens, Layla Clemens and Kingsley Thomas fromYear 8 read ‘Christmas Bells’. ‘Trouble at the Inn’ was read by Caitlin Rendle, Grace Tswei, Lois Willett-Green and Eden Oliver from Year 10.
A collection held during the service raised funds for both Madron Church and the RNLI, which is Mounts Bay’s chosen charity. Afterwards the performers and congregation enjoyed mince pies and hot drinks.
