Mounts Bay Academy were proud to host a “Be Employable” Careers Fair aimed at inspiring students in Years 8-11 to explore their options further with a wide range of local and national employers covering all the occupations available to students from creative arts to engineering. This included a strong presence from all the public services including the Fire and Rescue Service, the Armed Forces, to the Police. Local colleges, Penwith and Truro, Cornwall, Duchy and Falmouth College supported the event with a wide range of vocations from construction to hair and beauty. The voluntary sector was also represented with Volunteer Cornwall and the Sea Cadets to name a few. Higher Education was showcased with Falmouth and Penninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry and apprenticeship opportunities with key employers such as H Tempest, Serco and Western Power. It was an amazing opportunity to sample the world of work.
During the “Be Employable” Careers Fair, the Pirate FM stand was busy with students keen to experience radio. Lots of students recorded their thoughts on the careers fair, some great radio links and even the odd interview! Have a listen to the edited audio to hear some familiar voices!
