Touchgloves twins Amber and Allaya kitchen (12yrs) from the Mounts Bay Academy have returned from the Balkanian IFMA Muaythai Junior Championships held in Istanbul Turkey with a Gold and 2 Silver medals.
They travelled with their father and instructor of Touchgloves gym Nathan Kitchen who was chosen by the United Kingdom Muaythai Federation (UKMF) as England squad coach. After making it through to the finals, both girls faced larger, more experienced opponents who were both from Turkey, but were glad of the test. Allaya scored effectively in a very tough bout with body kicks and boxing techniques against her stronger opponent – losing narrowly by split decision to capture the silver medal ,whilst Amber’s more aggressive style won over the audience when she overpowered her much bigger opponent forcing 2 standing 8 counts- with her opponent unable to continue to the second round, leaving Amber to capture gold for the United Kingdom. Allaya then came back into the limelight by taking her 2nd silver medal, this time with a great performance of a “Wai Kru” ritual dance.
