This week is Adventure Learning Week at the Academy. During this week normal lesson are suspended and students take part in a variety of activities that will stimulate and enhance their learning in other areas.
Students in Year 7 are taking part in a variety of creative activities in response to the Essential Question: “New ideas can happen when existing or innovative ideas are brought together or expressed in a new way.” On Monday and Tuesday students took part in a range of school based learning activities exploring creative processes as well as a trip to Newlyn taking in a visit to the Newlyn Art Gallery, an opportunity to write poetry on a bridge and a fun treasure hunt.
Year 8 are taking part in activities linked to the heritage of Cornwall and beyond. Their week centres around the Essential Question: “A shared sense of belonging occurs when people are able to negotiate and appreciate their complex and often messy differences.” Students in this Year are taking part in a day trip on the Scillonian to the Isles of Scilly, as well as a whole range of workshops and activities around site and in the wider Penwith community.
Year 9 are staying active with a variety of activities including a moorland walk, lifesaving on Porthmeor Beach, Geocaching at Sennen and Sports Leadership at eh Academy.
Year 10 are participating in Work Experience placements with a range of employers in Cornwall and beyond! They are experiencing all kinds of careers including ones in medicine, agriculture, education, hospitality and the leisure industry.
