Ability Day

Today the Academy hosted a West Cornwall Project Ability day.
The event was hugely successful and well attended with 76 pupils competiting, 18 Penwith College Leaders, 24 staff members, from 9 secondary schools and 2 Cornwall Sports Partnership Inclusion Sports Development Organsiers. The pupils participated in a sample of 5 sports in the lead up to the School Games finals on the 26th June.
The primary aim of Project Ability is to have more young disabled pupils taking part in competitive sport through the School Games and a network of 50 lead Project Ability schools

Project Ability is delivered as part of the School Games, and includes:

  • bespoke training, developed by the Youth Sport Trust, to provide local advice and guidance to School Games Organisers and host schools;
  • the establishment and implementation of even more local competitive opportunities for young disabled people; and
  • the development of school club activities.
