During half term two teams from the Academy attended the schools show jumping competition run by the Western Hunt Pony Club at Resparveth Equestrian Centre. The competition is divided into two levels; an Open and Novice competition, these levels refer to the height of the jumps. We had a team competing at each level; the teams consisted of:
All of the students were excellent representatives of MBA and looked rather smart sporting the newly purchased competition numnahs, which were kindly sponsored by Solo Building Supplies. Jane Coak, of Solo Building Supplies, said “I was very happy to support the show jumping teams as I know how having a team kit can provide the students with a sense of unity and pride”.
The open team had a very successful day, winning the team competition. They were the only team, out of the eight competing, to finish on a clean score sheet, meaning no faults were obtained. This was not the end to their successes, Tean, Shea and Poppy had all qualified for the individual competition in which they had to jump another round against the clock. Unfortunately Poppy knocked one fence down which put her out of the placings, but Shea and Tean both had fast and clear rounds. Shea finished with second place and Tean with third place out of 22 competitors. The final rosette the open team came away with was a second place in the Tack and Turnout competition.
The Novice team, although unable to follow in the open teams successful footsteps, worked hard and came away with having had an enjoyable experience. Lessons were learnt and the team knows what to work on for next time.
A massive thank you to all parents and helpers who dutifully climbed out of bed early to help with washing, brushing, plaiting and generally ensuring that pony and child arrived at the event on time and looking fab.
A brilliant day all round, we now look forward to the summer competition where we will hopefully be competing in new jackets to match the new numnahs!
