James Strikes Gold!

Unlike most kids who were chilling out and relaxing on the beach over the summer holidays, James Midgely-Payne has been pounding the mats in the Dojang, training hard for Karate competitions! That hard work has been paying off.

During the school holidays James was training hard ready to represent Cornwall in the 2016 British National Tang Soo Do Karate Championships. There were teams from Wales, Scotland, London and many other counties around the UK all hoping to win that illustrious Gold! This competition was held in July and James came away indeed victorious with a Gold and a Silver medal, while his sister Jennifer, who hopes to join Mounts Bay in Sept 2017, won a Silver and a Bronze.

He is competing again shortly in the South East England Karate Championships on Sunday 25th September in Essex.

Next month is a really big one where James and his sister are flying out to Athens, Greece, to compete at International level once more at the 2016 European Tang Soo Do Championships, again representing Cornwall with our very own ISK School of Martial Arts based in Redruth.

It’s a busy time for James involving a lot of hard work, so please join us in wishing him the very best of luck!
