The Year 7 Hockey Team went to Penair to play a hockey tournament on Tuesday 8th March. Our first game was against Cape Cornwall School. They were good opposition, but we managed to break through their defence with Jacob Pengelly scoring three goals and Rhys Picot scoring one to win 4-0.
Our next game was against Liskeard and, after a game break, we were ready to overcome a good team. Liskeard were tough opponents but we managed to win in the dying seconds with a good strike from the edge of the circle by Jacob Pengelly.
In the third game we played Richard Lander B. Rhys Picot gave us the edge by scoring a sensational goal with a dribble from the half way line and we won win 1-0.
In the fourth game we beat Penair 2-0, with goals from Eddie Roynon and James Swan.
Our penultimate game was against Richard Lander A. We put in a great performance and beat them 3-0 with goals from Rhys Picot, Jacob Pengelly and Logan Aspden.
We played Truro School in our final game. We had to either draw or win to lift the cup. It was a tense game and neither team really grabbed it by the scruff of the neck. Finally, a James Swan hit went straight into the bottom corner to put us in the lead. The team battled hard to keep the lead but Truro equalised from an unfortunate deflection. We were able to hold them to this scoreline until the final whistle blew.
We won the cup with some exceptional team play and the result reflected all our hard work and dedication throughout the whole entire tournament.
