Mounts Bay Academy leads the way in the UK and Europe with our High Performance Learning Programme designed to promote World Class learning for all students by providing everyone with an iPad to create independent learners ready for the challenges of the 21st Century.
This allows our students to learn as effectively from home as they do in the classroom.
Students can participate in online learning sessions via video and take part in pastoral activities such as assemblies and tutor groups when they are unable to attend. On average we set around 5,000 learning tasks a week for our students which are returned, marked and feedback is given.

We use a number systems for letting you know how your child is doing on a day to day basis.

We supply every student with an iPad to allow us to raise your child’s achievement in a multitude of ways. All we ask is that it is looked after carefully and is used in accordance with our acceptable use policy.
iPad Damage Charges 2021/2022
Damage to an iPad that is in its assigned case – £50 (subsequent damages in the same academic year – £70)
Damage to an iPad with all or part of the case missing – £75

The majority of our educational resources are stored on our Firefly learning portal which you will be able to access using your iPad. You will also find other resources, e.g. our Interactive Student Planner stored in the library application on your iPad.
Communication is extremely important to us at Mounts Bay Academy. Alongside the email system we also use Firefly to send messages home and links to our weekly newsletter. Any contact e-mail addresses we have been given for parent/carers will be added to our systems and you will receive these automatically.

At MBA we use a system called ParentMail and this is our preferred method for parents/carers to pay for school visits/trips, make purchases like uniform and also to pay money into the Cashless Catering System.
This system is personalised to you and you have your own login and account details. It gives you the flexibility to make online payments whenever and wherever you like, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, safe in the knowledge that the technology used is of the highest internet security standard. It means students do not have to carry around amounts of cash.
