County Champions!

On Thursday 28th February the Year 8 netball squad set out for the County Netball Tournament at Bodmin College. The squad finished in second place last year and had their sights set high this year. The first round of games saw Mounts Bay placed in a pool group with Richard Lander, Newquay Tretherras, Helston and Bodmin. The team put out a great performance, winning all their matches to finish as pool group winners.

Going through into the second round and in the top group, Mounts Bay were now facing the other top four teams in the County: Truro High School, Wadebridge, Truro School and Penrice.

The opening game saw Mounts Bay take on Truro High who they had previously lost the County title to the previous year. The girls put out a storming performance winning the game 6-3. The second match saw them take on a very strong Penrice and they lost 6-4. However, Truro High went on to beat Penrice, so at this point the team needed to score as many goals as possible and win. Mounts Bay then faced Wadebridge and came away with a 7-1 win. Truro School then went on to draw 5-5 with Penrice and the decider of the tournament came down to the final match of the day against Truro School. The standard of play, determination and resilience shown by the team was outstanding, and the girls went on to take a 7-2 victory against Truro School!

This meant that Mounts Bay Academy came away with the title of U13 County Netball Champions! This is a fantastic achievement by the team and they should be very proud of their achievement!
