Congratulations to Kiera Graham who has just been awarded the Brian Spiegelhalter Young Citizen of the Year Award. Kiera was awarded the Silver trophy by the mayor of Penzance, at a glitzy awards ceremony held at Penwith College on Monday night.
Kiera’s award was in recognition of her fundraising achievements for the charity Epilepsy Action. The charity gives help and support to people with epilepsy, their friends, families and healthcare professionals.
To date Kiera has raised around £2,000 by running a variety of events and activities. These include; organising a Bar-B-Q, selling refreshments and jewellry at her old primary school Pensans and organising the ‘Purple Day’ non-uniform day at MBA. One of Kiera’s friend’s, Poppy Felton, even cut 10 inches of her hair off to support the fundraising effort.
Kiera explained, “I wanted to make a little gesture, to give something back, to help other people suffering with epilepsy.”
