This week’s word is: Pedagogy
Definition: Pedagogy – noun. The strategies and activities involved in teaching.
Albert Einstein said, of his own pedagogy, “I never teach my pupils. I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn.”
Etymology: Pedagogy – The word comes from the Greek παιδαγωγέω (paidagōgeō); in which παῖς (país,) means “child” and άγω (ágō) means “lead”; so it literally means “to lead the child”. In ancient Greece, the paidagogos was a slave who supervised the education of his master’s son and led him to school.
So pedagogy is about walking the walk, or leading your learners.
