We are delighted to invite you to Mounts Bay Academy annual summer programme. It is designed to make the transition from Primary to Secondary school as smooth as possible, welcoming and introducing your child into the Academy. This Government funded programme for schools allows us to provide additional opportunities through out the summer. This is will enable pupils to overcome any nerves, worries or concerns they may currently feel.
This years project is even more exciting with a split two week programme. The first week beginning Monday 27th July – 31st July will enable pupils to challenge themselves with new activities that they can continue to experience throughout their time at the Academy. There is a huge variety of activities available led by experts in their area, these include drama, art, music, photography, film, surfing, kayaking, football cycling and multiple sports on offer.
The activities are aimed for the pupils to take on some new challenges, increase their communication with others and work cooperatively. Pupils will spend a whole day from 9.00-3.00pm on their chosen activity.
The second “Get Set” week and slightly more important for pupils to attend begins Monday 24th – 28th August 9.00-3.00pm.
These four days are based around a typical school day to enable pupils to understand the new school timetable and the IMYC curriculum. It is an enormous opportunity for your child to transforming nerves into excitement, make new friends and familiarise themselves around the school at a more quieter time. Pupils will participate in various team building activities, exciting new activities and all in a vibrant exciting fun atmosphere.
