Well done to Grace Brock, Imogen Wood and Archie Vingoe who represented Cornwall at the English Schools Cross Country Championships last weekend at the Norfolk Showground in Norwich. It was a real achievement for all three of the runners to come in, or near, the top half of their races. The standard of competition at the event was really high and the three MBA competitors held their own in a class field.
In the Intermediate Boys Category (Year 10/11), run over a 6k course, there were in total 338 competitors. Archie came in in 191st place, and was the sixth scorer for a Cornwall team that came ninth out of 44 counties.
In the Intermediate Girls Category (Year 10/11), run over a 3.75k course, there were 344 in the race. It was great for MBA to have two of the eight Cornish athletes in the team. Grace Brock came in 25th place and Imogen came in 143rd place. Impressively they were the first two Cornish runners to finish in this category.
Congratulations to Grace Brock, has been selected for the South West team at the London Mini Marathon/British three-mile road championships again. She is one of six Under 17 women to be selected. Last year she was bronze medalist in the Under 15s, running three miles in 17.02.
